Sports injuries limit the performance of any athlete( sportsperson).We strive to treat these injuries and bring the athlete back on the field, with same performance level as preinjury status. Arthroscopic Surgery is a boon for these patients. Following are pictures of Knee joint injuries in an Athlete and how we treated him. Bucket handle Tear of medial meniscus and ACL ligament tear is a deadly combination of sports injuries, especially football , hockey etc. Previously such torn meniscus used to be removed ( meniscectomy) . But now we preserve the meniscus and repair it( Arthroscopic Meniscus Repair) . DRUJ reconstruction

Distal Radio-Ulnar Joint ( DRUJ) Subluxation is a common injury of the Wrist joint ,which happens because of fall on outstretched hand. It causes pain in wrist and difficulty in lifting weight. It is treated surgically by ligament reconstruction. The video shows ligament being reconstructed. Tendon is being pulled through Ulna, after passing through Distal Radius.

SLAP lesion [IMAGES & VIDEO]

Superior Labral Anterior Posterior- ( SLAP) is a lesion in shoulder ,due to which athletes get shoulder pain during or after overhead activities. The following are images of a SLAP lesion(10 -12 o’clock position) in Shoulder in Young Badminton player and its arthroscopic repair.

PTB cast for Tibia fracture

Fracture of leg bone( Shin bone -TIBIA FRACTURE ) is a common fracture in adults due to Road Traffic Accident or Fall from Height. Some times it is possible to achieve COMPLETE UNION of these Fractures WITHOUT OPERATION by special CASTING TECHNIQUES- PTB cast. Here is an excellent example of how it worked in a young man.

Bristow Latarjet Procedure

“RECURRENT DISLOCATION OF THE SHOULDER”, is a common problem in youngsters. Basically, the ball of the shoulder joint slips out of it’s socket . First time it is caused by significant injury, fall while playing in the playground or an accident . It becomes “recurrent”, if repeated dislocation ( slipping of ball out of the socket ) happens with trivial injury or in sleep too. Such patients need an MRI and Surgical treatment like Arthroscopic Bankart Repair( Key hole surgery). But, sometimes the socket gets partly eroded by repeated dislocation, ( Bony Bankart lesion) in which case, keyhole surgery cannot be performed, rather a open surgery called as BRISTOW LATARJET PROCEDURE, is required, which prevents further recurrent dislocations. A young man had dislocated the shoulder repeatedly nearly 8-10 times. VIDEO shows the bony cup ( glenoid) , with significant bone loss-“ inverted pear shape” with loss of more than 25% of bony glenoid, seen in the Arthroscopic Video grab. Photos and X rays show the results after such a Bristow Latarjet procedure in a young man- see the excellent function, within 2 and 1/2 months of Surgery. Now he doesn’t have FEAR OF DISLOCATION.
