People who have one of their legs shortened because of some defect in growth of the Thigh bone or leg bone , due to old injury or old infection , have to walk with difficulty and limp throughout their life. But, such persons need not lose hope. It is possible to increase the length of the whole leg by an established surgical procedure called as Illizarov Technique using Distraction Histogenesis .
In this photo series we are showing a young adult male patient who had 3 and 1/2 inch shortening of thigh bone.By Illizarov method using Distraction Histogenesis, the thigh bone length was increased by 3 and 1/2 inches .
