Milestone achievement in MIS Spine Surgery

Milestone achievement in MIS Spine Surgery- Balloon Kyphoplasty under LA in Lateral position. This procedure is done for osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fracture ( OVCF) routinely in prone position and under GA. In patients with high comorbidities and unfit for GA, we do under LA with MAC. This 71 year old elderly gentleman with L1 OVCF who was suffering from severe pain, had severe COPD- unfit for GA and could not lie prone for even 5 minutes. We successfully performed Balloon Kyphoplasty for this patient under LA and MAC and in LATERAL POSITION , which is technically challenging. We performed this for FIRST TIME in Max Superspeciality Hospital, Sector 128, Noida. The patient was discharged walking comfortably and painfree the very next day.
