OSTEOARTHRITIS (OA) OF KNEES

It is very common to see Elderly people( Senior Citizens),suffering from Knee joint pains and difficulty in walking.Especially women are much more affected than men, almost 70% are women. This is due to OSTEOARTHRITIS (OA) of the KNEES , which very often affects both Knees after the age of 60 years. OA is a progressive disease. Eary stages of OA Knees can be treated by medications, lifestyle modification, weight reduction, physiotherapy and exercises and disease progression can be slowed. But advanced OA ( Osteoarthritis) of Knees needs Surgical treatment called Total Knee Replacement (TKR) or TKA ( Total Knee Arthroplasty), which can be life-changing procedure. In this, the damaged cartilage of the Knee Joint is removed and the Knee Joint is resurfaced with Artificial Implants using advanced Technology. It is quite safe and well -established procedure, being done all over the World. The pictures and Videos show the real transformation patient feels within 6 weeks of Both Knees TKR Surgery.

The videos and photos show clearly shows how a large 12 mm diameter Loose Osteochondral Fragment is lying like a trap-door and how we treated it Arthroscopically by an INNOVATIVE and Special Procedure called as OATS ( Osteochondral Autograft Transplantation Surgery). The great team of Anaesthesia ( Dr Das, Dr Naveen et al ) and the OT Nurses and Technicians, make this look like cake-walk! The patient can return to Sports with complete healing.
